Lake Pleasant Motherhood Session - Peoria, Arizona Family Photographer

I love when my clients are willing to step outside of their comfort zone for their session. When this beautiful mama told me that she’d love to get in the water for her scheduled Mommy & Me session, I knew that Lake Pleasant would be the perfect location. Just a 30 minute drive from Peoria, Lake Pleasant Regional Park has stunning views and offers visitors a chance to beat the summer heat. There is an entry fee of $7 per car when entering the park, which is well worth it for these views.

For this session, we first made our way into the park and found this perfect spot to get in the water and play! Baby W loved swimming with her mama and waving to the ducks as they swam by. We started our session just before sunset, which gave us the best lighting to work with. For their first outfits, mama wore a simple white dress that coordinated with baby’s romper. It made for the perfect summery look for their water session.One thing to be prepared for if you are planning a session at Lake Pleasant is the wind. Like most locations near a body of water, the wind can sometimes catch you by surprise. While some photographers may be put off by a little wind, I always embrace it! Wind creates the most beautiful movement of hair, clothing, and the water! It was the perfect combination and really added to the vibe we were trying to create.

Once the sun set below the mountains, we did a quick outfit change and decided to go in a little deeper. Mom decided on a more natural, artistic look, wearing a stunning pastel gown she repurposed from her baby shower. We were able to capture some beautiful golden views during blue hour.

A trip to Lake Pleasant is the perfect escape from the summer heat and such a unique backdrop for a photo session.
